Overview

 

The Convert Multiple BMP Files To JPG Files Software is a convenient way to convert a single or multiple BMP formatted files to the JPG format.  The software is very easy to use.  The user simply picks one or more BMP file to convert and then presses the “Start Converting” button.  This starts the conversion process of all of the selected BMP files into JPG files.  The user may then preview the results and save them, if desired, to a selected output folder.

 

Main Screen

 

The Convert Multiple BMP Files To JPG Files Software can be started by double clicking the icon on the user’s desktop or choosing it from the Start Menu.  The Main Screen is divided into three sections.  The top displays the BMP files that will be converted to JPG files.  The middle section contains buttons to add files to the BMP list and to perform a conversion.  A  JPG quality slider control and a progress bar is at the bottom.  The slider control controls the quality of the converted JPG output and the bar displays the progress during a conversion.  The Main Screen is displayed below:

 

 

In addition to the Main Screen, if you are using the free version of the software an additional window is displayed.  This window offer you links to “Buy Now”, “Enter License”, “Support” and “sobolsoft.com”.

 

 

 

The “Buy Now” link will use your default internet browser to display a page that will allow you to purchase the software and receive a License.  The license may be entered into the dialog that is displayed when you choose the “Enter License” link.  The “Support” link uses your default browser to display a list of frequently asked questions at https://sobolsoft.com/question/ and the “sobolsoft.com” link will bring you directly to the Sobolsoft website at www.sobolsoft.com.

 

Once a license has been entered in the “Enter License” window this window is no longer available but all of the information is still available at the sources listed above.

 

Adding BMP Files

 

BMP files may be added one by one or multiple at a time.  As each file or group of files is selected, they are displayed in the BMP File list at the top of the Main Screen.  To select individual files from a folder the user may press the “Add BMP File(s)” button.  To select all of the BMP files in a folder the user may select the “Add All Files In Folder” button.

 

Adding BMP Files From a Folder

 

To Add Individual File(s) from a folder the user would press the “Add BMP File(s)” button on the Main Screen.  Pressing this button will bring up the Add File(s) dialog displayed below:

 

 

 To select a single BMP file, navigate to the folder containing the BMP files and single click on the desired file.  Multiple BMP files may be selected by holding down the CTRL key on the keyboard while single clicking on additional files.  A range of files may be selected by clicking on the first file in the range and then holding doen the SHIFT key on the keyboard while clicking on the last file in the range.

 

When the desired files have been selected, press the “Open” button to exit the dialog and copy the selected files to the BMP file list on the Main Screen.  To exit the dialog without selecting any files, press the “Cancel” button.

 

Adding All BMP Files From a Folder

 

For the user’s convenience, all the BMP files in a given folder may be selected simultaneously and written to the BMP file list on the Main Window.  To do this, press the “Add All File(s) In Folder” button.  This will bring up the Browse for Folder dialog shown below:

 

 

Select the Folder that contains the BMP files to be converted.  Press the “OK” button to exit the dialog and have all of the BMP files from the selected folder copied into the BMP file list on the Main Screen.  To exit the dialog without selecting any folder simply press the “Cancel” button.

 

Selecting the JPG Quality

 

The quality of the converted JPG file can be adjusted using the slider control labeled “Output JPG image quality” shown below:

 

 

The higher the quality to larger the resultant JPG file. Conversely, the lower the quality the smaller the JPG file.  To increase the quality, click on the slider and drag it to the right.  To decrease the quality, click the slider and slide it to the left.  The JPG quality you set will be remembered from execution to execution.

 

Starting the Conversion

 

To begin the conversion of all of the selected BMP files to JPG format, press the “Start Converting” button.  This will begin the conversion process.  While the files are being processed the progress is displayed at the bottom of the Main Screen.  When the process is complete, the following dialog is displayed:

 

 

This screen lets you preview the results of the conversion, choose an output folder and save the results.  If the user finds the results unsatisfactory, such as JPG quality, they may return to the Main Screen and correct the issue.

 

Previewing Results

 

After the conversion is complete the user may inspect the results on the Preview Screen.  At the top is the list of original BMP filenames.  Below those are shown the original BMP image for the selected BMP filename and below that the converted JPG image is displayed as shown below:

 

 

To see a different BMP image and the result of its conversion simply click on a new file name in the Preview list.  If the conversion is unsatisfactory for any reason, for example a missing input file or JPG quality, press the “<Back” button to return to the Main Screen.

 

Saving Results

 

After the previewing the results of the converison the results may be saved by first choosing an output folder.  This is done by clicking on the “…” button.  This will bring up the Browse for Folder dialog shown below:

 

 

Navigate to the desired output folder and press the “OK” button to close the dialog and have the folder written to the “Save Image(s) To This Folder” field on the Preview Screen.  To exit the dialog without choosing a folder press the “Cancel” button.

 

Once the desired output folder has been selected press the “Save Results” on the Preview Screen to save all of the converted JPG files to this folder.
